TIHPs are a series of telephonic sessions with a personal health coach who will help you customize a plan to achieve your individual health and wellness goals.

TIHPs are a benefit of HealthTracks, your AlaskaCare employee wellness program, provided at no out-of-pocket cost to you.

TIHPs are available to active AlaskaCare Employee Health Plan members only.


Q and A
What are TIHPs?
TIHPs are telephonic meetings with a highly skilled, personal wellness consultant who will help you develop an individualized plan of action to meet your needs—from improved health to enhanced training. Your wellness consultant will use an advanced computer system and your feedback to develop a specialized personal plan just for you.

Set Goals: Your plan of action will be customized for you. Some examples may be to lose weight, decrease your risk for heart disease, or even trim your triathlon time.
Incentives: Register for spring TIHP sessions in Spring 2012, and be entered to win one of five random drawings for $200!

How can I participate?
TIHPs are voluntary and enrollment is easy—Click here to register! You will receive a phone call and/or email reminder within 24 hours of your first and subsequent sessions. WIN for Alaska, Inc. may also ask you to send the results of your most recent Personal Wellness Profile as well as any other information that may help make your initial session successful (sending these materials is optional).

After signing up for a time that works for you, you will receive an initial coaching consultation. As part of the TIHP program, a personal health coach will be providing you with the opportunity to:

  1. Have one coaching session per month in the fall session and one per month in the spring session = 6 per year
  2. Establish your current health risks from your health risk assessment
  3. Set realistic goals and formulate an action plan
  4. Identify your personal motivational techniques
  5. Recognize your barriers and relapse triggers
  6. Identify educational tools to support your behavior change

Who can participate?
TIHPs are available to active AlaskaCare Employee Health Plan members only.

How often do I get to meet with my personal wellness consultant?
TIHPs begin February 15, 2012. The sessions include three visits over three months: 1) initial health planning session, 2) follow-up session, 3) final strategy session. Don't forget to schedule your visits!

Do I have to attend all three sessions?
To be successful, WIN for Alaska, Inc. recommends attending all three sessions. We designed them so you will have consistency, motivation, and accountability to reach your goals.

What types of records will be kept on my visit?
WIN for Alaska, Inc. respects your privacy. At each visit, you will work with your personal wellness consultant on your goals and at the end of your meeting you will write your goals on your Personal Health Plan. Depending on the goals and information provided by you, your information may be kept in a secure WIN for Alaska, Inc. file or entered into our computer system. Each WIN for Alaska, Inc. PC is password-protected and cabinets are kept locked. We practice appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access and maintain data security for any and all information that we collect during the TIHP sessions. We follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules and regulations.

What information will WIN for Alaska, Inc. provide the State of Alaska?
WIN for Alaska, Inc. will only provide unidentifiable information to the State of Alaska for tracking purposes. This information may include statistics, such as how many participants are interested and working on a weight loss plan or how many participants are enrolled in the TIHP sessions, etc. We will not provide any information that could identify any participant specifically. We follow HIPAA rules and regulations.

Why are TIHPs being offered?
The State of Alaska and WIN for Alaska, Inc. know how hard it can be to find ways to stay healthy. Our winters are dark and cold and for some of us the thought of exercising or eating right is hard to do. We want you to know you are not alone. Sometimes all you need is to have someone who understands your obstacles and can consistently meet with you telephonically to help you stay on track.

What makes TIHPs unique?
There are no out-of-pocket costs. A personal wellness consultant will meet with you regularly over the phone to discuss your needs. It is like having a personal trainer, coach, and friend all in one.
