Im looking for a running buddy. I go to the gym T & R at 6-8:00AM to either run on the treadmill or use the eliptical or bike etc. and lift weights afterward. On M, W, F & Sunday I like to run outside. I LOVE long distance but since its winter and its cold and Im alone I usually stick to shorter distances like 3-4. I really want to start running long again on my running days, but its so boring running here in Anchorage alone during long distance runs! So I would love to find a running buddy who shared that same interest and would be interested in running long distances 4 days a week. Or at least one of the days! Anythings better than nothing! =)

I ran XC & Track in highschool, 3 years ago, and have been running ever since. Yes going through times of great shape and others of terrible. Right now Id say im about in the middle and my most recent peak was last October when I ran my first half marathon at 1:55.

I usually run about 8 minute miles on 3 mile runs and as the distance of the run goes up, graduallly does the time on my miles.

I am interested in a gym buddy on T and R. I attend yoga MWF. I am getting "back into shape". I am interested in a little jogging (like building up about 3 - 6 miles a week), but mainly walking fast, and strength training. Our buddy agreement need not be meeting twice a week every week - I am amenable to various forms of motivation and maybe even helping one another with accountability (a little friendly competition?). I work in Gruening and appear to have difficulty convincing myself to go to the SRC regularly during a lunch hour. Welcome to the University of Alaska Fitness Buddy Directory. You can find a Fitness Buddy here.

Fitness Buddies are two or more people who exercise together on a regular basis for accountability. You are more likely to workout when you know others are depending on you to join them. You are also more likely to give your best when you are aware that others are seeing your efforts. Walking, biking, and doing yoga are more fun with others. Besides, some sports, like basketball or Frisbee, require more than one person.

Find a buddy within the university system by either adding your information to the directory or searching it for people who enjoy the same activities that you do. (See below.)

We suggest that participants first correspond by email to help ensure that they have similar exercise goals and expectations. We then suggest talking on the phone to decide on a public place to meet for the first time. We discourage first time meetings taking place at a private residence.

All information will be screened by the WIN for Alaska, Inc. Webmaster before it is posted to the website. Information that you enter will not be used for any other purpose, and will not be sold or disclosed.
