Your New Year's Resolution Starts Here
Sign-up for your Individualized Health Planning (IHP) Sessions today!
The new year is a perfect time to renew and conquer your health and fitness goals. If you would like to improve your overall health, reduce stress, manage your weight, or develop an exercise plan, take this opportunity to participate in our series of six face-to-face health-planning sessions with an experienced wellness consultant. These sessions include biometric screenings for blood pressure, body composition, and cholesterol.
Over 700 UA faculty and staff are registered for their Individualized Health Planning Sessions (IHPs).
In Fairbanks, we've added a new IHP session location for new IHP participants in January - Butrovich Building, Room 109-C, on Wednesdays from 12-5pm. In addition, a small allotment of initial sessions will be opened up in January for the other locations at UAF and UAS. These sessions will be limited and on a first-come first-serve basis. Anchorage IHP sessions are now full.
Register today! Simply click on your campus's IHP session link below and follow the instructions.
Learn more about IHPs. Read our featured IHP Program success story and become inspired!
UAF IHP participants will get their choice of an SRC pass or an Alaska Club pass (good for one month), after attending their third session.
Get the Point Begins February 1
Being healthy pays when you participate in Get the Point
The Get the Point (GTP) Incentive Campaign will begin February 1 and run through July 31. We've added new prizes and updated the system. The program goal remains the same, to help you incorporate healthful habits into your lifestyle and reward you for consistent healthful living.
Beginning in February, track your activities at least once a month in any one of the FOUR CONSECUTIVE MONTH incentive campaign periods. Once you start, you have FOUR CONSECUTIVE MONTHS to complete the GTP incentive campaign.
Incentive Campaign Periods
February - May
March - June
April - July
There were an amazing number of prizes awarded during the GTP 2009 Incentive Campaign, and we look forward to your continued success in 2010!
• 2009 2-month prizes awarded: 691
• 2009
4-month prizes awarded: 538
Interested? Look for details in the next Health Link, visit Health In Action or go to GTP.
Get the Point Offline (Jan 25-31)
In preparation for the 2010 campaign, the GTP system will be down January 25th through the 31st. During this time, we will be purging participant activity data. This means all of your points and biometric data will be deleted. Your username and password will not be affected. However, be sure to print any of your 2009 calendars or progress reports you would like to keep before Monday, January 25th, 2010. The GTP system will be live again with the start of the new incentive campaign on February 1, 2010.

Pilates success story
by Joanna Claxton, Arts Department, UAA
I have always been interested in learning Pilates. I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to take Pilates free through the UA Health In Action wellness program. Otherwise, I would not be able to afford the expense.
The benefits have been considerable for me, both physically and mentally. [Joanna's story]
