Diann's personal fitness prescription...
I enjoy being physically active throughout the year, so some activities change with the seasons. In the winter, I enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, and table tennis (which I enjoy playing year round). Spring brings on a shift to hiking, walks on the tundra, photography, gardening, biking, rafting, and of course table tennis.
Table tennis is very fun, challenging, and can be far more aerobic than most people realize. Most of the time, I play with the Fairbanks Interior Table Tennis Club at the Patty Gym. However, there are pickup games at a friends’ house or tournaments in other cities that keep things interesting. I’m looking forward to representing Alaska in the National Senior Games in San Francisco in August 2009.
I also practice modified Tai Chi and do weight training exercises, two to three times a week. This has helped me stay strong, yet balanced and flexible, which has allowed me the freedom to participate in activities that enrich my life.
On being a wellness consultant...
Wellness consulting is a perfect fit for me. I love working with my clients to help them live their best life. Living well and healthy allows us to bring our gifts and talents to our work, family, and community. I want that for everyone. Being a facilitator in the journey of self-discovery is very rewarding work.
Diann's five daily tips for a wonderful life:
1. Eat healthy,
2. Laugh out loud,
3. Use your gifts to benefit others,
4. Do something physically active that you enjoy,
5. Choose to be happy!
