Why keeping track of your health is important to the University of Alaska

"It’s important for you to keep track of your health, and there’s an easy way to get started: Know your numbers. That's blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and BMI (body mass index).

By knowing your numbers, you can gauge your risk for serious health problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes and stroke.

Maintaining good health doesn't have to be complicated. Eat well, be physically active, avoid unhealthy habits like smoking and excessive drinking— and know your numbers."

Get the Point Tracking System

The Get the Point Tracking System can be used year-round to record your healthful habits and activity. However, you can only earn rewards during an incentive campaign.


Get the Point Incentive Campaign
February - July

Being healthy pays when you participate in Get the Point (GTP). The tiered reward campaign gives you points for not only your physical activity but also for having a healthful lifestyle.

GTP helps you incorporate healthful habits into your lifestyle. When you track your activities in GTP monthly, you’ll accumulate points for things like eating well, exercising daily, listening to a Health In Action audiocast, and reading the Health Link eNewsletter. When you reach a point goal at two and/or four consecutive months, you’ll get a reward.

(View 2010 prize/tier chart). GTP rewards you for all your activities, not just exercise. So come on—“Get the Point!”

How To Participate in Get the Point (GTP):

1. To begin earning points and winning prizes, simply logon to http://gtp.winforalaska.com. If you are a NEW user please register. Otherwise login using your 2009 username and password.

2. Look at your activity options and set your goals.

3. Record your activities at least once a month in any one of the FOUR CONSECUTIVE MONTH incentive campaign periods. Once you start, you have FOUR CONSECUTIVE MONTHS to complete the GTP incentive campaign. If you don’t reach a tier your first try you can try again next month. But once you reach a tier you are locked in.

Incentive Campaign Periods
February – May
March – June
April – July

*NOTE: You must have at least 1+ point in each of the two and/or four consecutive months to be eligible.

4. Receive a monthly tracking email with points-to-prize information, and an email reminder to log your points.

5. Reach a point-tier at two consecutive months and earn a 2-month prize. (See Prize/Tier Chart for prize details.)

6. Reach a point-tier at four consecutive months and earn a 4-month prize. (See Prize/Tier Chart for prize details.)
